The programme is open to researchers from all disciplines – natural sciences, technical sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. Eligible applicants must be Ukrainian citizens or hold long-term residence permits and be employed at Ukrainian academic institutions. A PhD degree is required, as well as active participation in interdisciplinary exchange with colleagues during the fellowship. The working languages of the programme are Ukrainian and English.

Financial support amounts to €500 per month for postdoctoral researchers and €1000 per month for professors.

The application deadline is 30 November 2025 (14:00 CET). Applications should be submitted in English via the official VUIAS platform.

The Virtual Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study (VUIAS) is an international initiative launched by the Wissenschaftskolleg (Berlin) in partnership with institutions from Ukraine, Europe, and the USA. The programme is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation (Germany).
