Conference on Pedagogical Practice of Master’s Students
The event was conducted by the head of the practice – associate professor of the Department of Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences of the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences Iryna Melnyk. She introduced future teachers to the key provisions of the work program and outlined strategic tasks for the coming weeks.
Practical training of students will take place for 4 weeks on the basis of secondary education institutions of Poltava, Kharkiv and Kyiv regions. According to the curriculum, the practice is aimed at forming a holistic understanding of the work of a modern geography teacher and gaining experience in independent teaching.
During the conference, Iryna Melnyk focused on the mandatory learning outcomes provided for by the work program:
Design of the educational process: students will learn to carry out prospective and current planning (development of lesson plans, selection of didactic materials).
Methodological skills: application of modern teaching technologies, in particular ICT and interactive learning methods in geography lessons.
Educational work: performing the functions of a class teacher, organizing extracurricular activities and working with the student team.
Professional reflection: the ability to critically evaluate one’s own pedagogical activities and maintain reporting documentation.
A separate block was a safety briefing. The head of the practice reminded of the importance of observing the rules of labor protection and life safety in martial law conditions, in particular, the algorithms of actions during the “Air Alert” signal in educational institutions.
The conference ended with a discussion of the students’ individual plans and consultations on the registration of the results of the practice.
