Freshmen meeting with writer Anton Kozlov
It was a creative meeting with a talented writer, a successful alumnus of our faculty, and a PhD student majoring in В11 «Philology», Anton Kozlov.
The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue, where literary theory was closely intertwined with the living practice of creativity. «For a future philologist, it is vital to see literature not just as a set of terms in a textbook, but as a living process being born here and now», noted Professor Olha Kryzhanovska. The main topic of discussion was the writer's creative laboratory. Anton shared his personal secrets of creating a literary text with the students. The writer spoke about the journey from concept to realization and revealed the mysteries of where to find inspiration and how to turn a random thought into a full-fledged plot. Anton Kozlov emphasized the importance of following one's own talent.
This year, the writer’s modernist historical novel, «The Last Chronicle of Cossack Viktor (Ostannii litopys kozaka Viktora)», is scheduled for release by the RVV Publishing House. Additionally, in 2026, Anton Kozlov’s non-fiction book «Asian Cinema: From Classics to the New Wave (1950-1990)» will be published by Safran Publishing House.
For the first-year students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, who are just beginning their journey into the world of literary studies, such an experience is invaluable. Communicating with an alumnus who has already established himself in the profession and continues his academic path in postgraduate studies inspires their own creative and scientific pursuits.
The meeting concluded with a lively discussion and numerous questions from the audience. Students were interested in both the technical aspects of writing and advice on how to publish their first collection.
We wish Anton inspiration and a wonderful mood, and our students – a successful mastery of the basics of literary studies!
