The meeting was opened by Petro Vasyloovych Vorona, who solemnly presented the award of the Poltava Regional Council for volunteer activity to the rector our university Olena Karaman. The award was awarded for a significant contribution to the provision of volunteer assistance during the implementation of measures to ensure the defense of Ukraine and the development of the volunteer movement in accordance with the proposal of the deputy of the Poltava Regional Council of the eighth convocation, Viktor Nesen.
Special emphasis was placed on the fact that Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University became the first institution of higher education to receive such a high award at the regional level — as recognition of the systematic, consistent and responsible volunteer activity of the university community.
In his speech, Petro Vorona thanked the university staff for their active civic position, concern and constant assistance to Ukrainian defenders, emphasizing that the university is an example of the unity of education, patriotism and service to the state.
In response, Olena Karaman noted that volunteer work for the university is not a temporary initiative, but a conscious choice and moral obligation. The university began active volunteer work in 2014 and continues it to this day, uniting teachers, students and employees around a common goal - supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and bringing Victory closer. The rector thanked all educators and students who find the strength, time and opportunity to help, emphasizing that it is precisely such actions that form true civic maturity and responsibility.
During the round table, invited guests also spoke, each of whom briefly spoke about his own volunteer path and contribution to supporting Ukrainian soldiers, shared his experience of cooperation and vision for the further development of the volunteer movement.
At the end of the meeting, Petro Vorona and Volodymyr Moroz answered questions in a short interview format about the impact of volunteer activities on the formation of the civic position of student youth and the importance of serving Ukraine through education and volunteering.
The award received is not only an honorary recognition for Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, but also confirmation of the correctness of the chosen path - the path of responsibility, unity and daily work for the sake of Ukraine. The university will continue to remain an active center of volunteerism, patriotism and the formation of conscious Ukrainian youth.
